What’s the Best Way to Make TechTalk Recordings More Interactive and Engaging?

Hello

I have attended several ACM TechTalks recently and noticed that while the content is often excellent; the format can feel a bit one-way like listening to a lecture without much interaction.:innocent: I am curious; are there effective ways to turn these into more dynamic, two-way experiences where audiences feel more engaged & involved?

Some speakers are starting to add Q&A pauses or quick polls during the talk, which helps but managing these live interactions can be tricky; especially over video.:slightly_smiling_face:

Are there tools / strategies (like chat integration, live coding segments, or short breakout discussions) that work well without derailing the flow / adding too much complexity? Checked ACM TechTalks on AI & Machine Learning for reference.

Also; while exploring collaboration tools, I wondered what is jira and whether its issue-tracking & workflow tools could inspire ways to let attendees “flag” topics / questions during a TechTalk. Could we borrow that idea to help presenters see and respond to audience priorities in real time?

Thank you !!:slightly_smiling_face:

I wasn’t able to attend the latest tech talk, so I’m unsure if this was already done. The discourse topic page for the tech talk could be linked to and commentary encouraged there, or the content could be reposted there. Since I missed the talk, it would have been interesting to see what Q&A questions came up on this page: Functional Programming in Financial Markets

Breakout sessions work reasonably well to make talks engaging, as they encourage focused attention.
